The Women’s Appointments Project asks gubernatorial candidates to sign a pledge promising they will appoint women to 50 percent of high-level positions in state government. Women hold an average of 31 percent of cabinet and high-level positions in administrations nationwide, offices that tend to be overlooked in the political pipeline. Major universities and Fortune 500 companies are run by women.
